Hudson's Malamutes - Frequently Asked Questions

12. Why can't we have the puppy before 8 weeks?

Puppies receive training and socialization from their mom and littermates. This time in their lives is key to them having the building blocks to be sound, well-mannered dogs. Their mom lets them know what kind of behavior is and isn't acceptable, and they learn about dealing with other dogs from their interaction with their litter mates. After 8 weeks, you take over for mom and continue their training in what is and is not acceptable behavior. You should also continue their socialization with other dogs (through Puppy Kindergarten recommended), and with other humans. Their little brains are ready to be imprinted with these social skills at this critical point in their lives.

Psalm 115:1
Not to us, O Lord, but to you goes all the glory for your unfailing love and faithfulness.
